Turner and His Paintings

Joseph Mallord William Turner, born April 23 at Covent Garden, London, the son of a barber and wigmaker. In 1789, Turner was admitted as a student of the Royal Academy Schools. and one year later, he exhibited his first watercolor works in the school. Turner was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1799, and then Professor of Perspective there 8 years later. In 1837, after death of Lord Egremont, Turner resigned the post in the Academy School. in 1851, he died and was buried at St.Paul's.

Turner is particularly enigmatic, Secrecy was part of his nature, his paintings, even those that appear remarkably abstract, are generally based on a careful observation of nature in his unique visuall memory, this is clearly indicated by the titles he gave to his paintings. Abstraction and representation, form and content, observation and the inner vision, it's so hardly for us to get them balanced in a painting, But Turner did it again and again, particularly in the painting titled Snow Storm. Turner even wrote poems to accompany his paintings, he has a strong tendency to become a deeply pessimistic painter. Turner had a strong fear that he would not be understood after his death, because most praise and excellent comments he got was so superficial and poor.
