life
of Van Gogh, on BBC
Even though he's one of the most famous artists of all time, Vincent Van Gogh's
life was no fairy tale.
He started his career as an art dealer. That didn't work out so he moved to
England to be a teacher instead.
That wasn't his style either. He quit and went back to school himself to study
religion. After deciding that exams were a waste of time, he dropped out. Next,
he became a preacher but it wasn't long before he got the boot.
The key events of Vincent Van Gogh's life are narrated (by Claude Dauphin in the French version, and by Martin Gabel in the English), and illustrated by the paintings, with appropriately heightened music score attached.
